The Anglican Catholic Church understands itself as a branch of the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church founded by Jesus Christ, preserving historic Catholic faith, apostolic order, orthodox worship and the classical Anglican tradition.
Anglican points to our historic roots in the ancient Church of England and to the English liturgical, theological, spiritual and pastoral inheritance received through the centuries. Catholic means universal: the Church of Christ is not limited to one country or culture, but extends throughout the world.
The Anglican Catholic Church receives the doctrine and discipline of the undivided Church of the first millennium, with particular regard for the Seven Ecumenical Councils, Holy Scripture, the ancient Creeds, the Sacraments instituted by Christ, Apostolic Succession and the historic episcopate.

The Congress of St. Louis, 1977
A defining moment came in September 1977, when Anglican bishops, clergy and lay faithful gathered in St. Louis, Missouri, in response to theological and liturgical changes they believed departed from historic Anglican doctrine and practice.
The Congress adopted the Affirmation of St. Louis, reaffirming Holy Scripture, the Catholic Creeds, Apostolic Ministry, the Seven Ecumenical Councils, the traditional Sacraments and the historic Anglican formularies. Episcopal continuity was secured under the oversight of the Rt. Rev. Albert A. Chambers, and the developing jurisdiction later became known as the Anglican Catholic Church.
Our continuing mission
The ACC seeks to proclaim the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ, preserve and teach the Catholic faith received from the Apostles, maintain Apostolic Succession and the historic episcopate, celebrate the Sacraments reverently according to traditional Anglican worship, and call people into communion with Christ through preaching, worship and Christian service.
